Good morning from the little station on Commercial Street in Atchison, Kansas.
Today Peter asks Jesus a wonderfully human question: How many times do I actually have to forgive someone?
In Matthew 18:21–19:1, from the Douay-Rheims Bible, Christ answers with “seventy times seven” and the parable of the unforgiving servant—a story about debts, mercy, and our remarkable ability to remember what others owe us while forgetting what has already been forgiven.
That question quietly follows us through this morning’s Daybreak.
We meet Saints Pontian and Hippolytus, once divided by a serious conflict in the early Church but ultimately reconciled and now remembered together.
Closer to home, All Aboard Atchison Match Day arrives tomorrow, with more than 60 local organizations sharing in $150,000 of matching funds—a reminder of what can happen when many small acts of generosity are joined together.
And Benedictine College is beginning to come alive again as students return for another year.
That brings us to a new little feature on Daybreak:

The Tall Girl is spending her last night at home before returning to Benedictine for sophomore year and moving in early with Raven Dance. Her bag is packed. Freshmen are arriving. And Dad is confronted again with one of the peculiar laws of parenthood: children leave, come home, and somehow leave again just a little more grown up.
