Different Mountains
The Tall Girl has returned from Outward Bound.
She came back with stories of rain, long miles, cold nights, and mountains that seemed impossible to climb. But like most worthwhile adventures, the greatest lesson wasn’t about the wilderness. It was about perspective.
College life has its own mountains—deadlines, friendships, disappointments, and the occasional stubborn printer. They rarely look as dramatic, yet they often feel just as large.
This week’s ROOK is a reminder that experience quietly changes the way we see ordinary things. Sometimes wisdom isn’t learning how to conquer every obstacle. Sometimes it’s simply learning which obstacles deserve our attention in the first place.
If you’ve been following The Tall Girl Files, you’ll recognize the echoes of The Night the Mountains Kept Watch. If not, perhaps this little comic will make you curious to meet the Tall Girl for the first time. And enjoy our deep dive discussion of the story on our The Front Porch podcast.
Either way, welcome back to campus.
ROOK is an original weekly comic from Chesterton Radio, inspired by life around Benedictine College and the timeless adventures of growing up.
