All Souls Day has a way of putting things in perspective.
Tonight, Benedictine students can join the monks for Compline, walk by candlelight to the cemetery to pray for those who have gone before us—and then come back for hot chocolate and donuts.
It’s solemn. It’s a little mysterious. It’s also, in the very best way, a little odd.
And maybe that’s the point.
ROOK is a daily original college newspaper comic about friendship, faith, growing up, and the odd little places where life becomes meaningful. Set in and around Benedictine College and Atchison, it finds the humor in ordinary student life while letting the bigger things emerge naturally.
The ROOK Bible calls for humor rooted in personality and observation, with sentiment earned through understatement rather than explanation.
A new ROOK strip appears every day at noon CST.
