Something unusual walks into the Little Station today.
Ryan.
In a suit.
There’s a Career Fair at Benedictine, and students have been encouraged to arrive in business professional attire.
Jake has an immediate question:
“You own a suit?”
Ryan, still enjoying yesterday’s newfound philosophical depth:
“I contain multitudes.”
Then Maggie asks the question every college student eventually encounters:
“What’s your elevator pitch?”
Thirty seconds. Why should somebody hire you?
Ryan thinks about it.
“I show up.”
“I work hard.”
So far, so good.
Then comes the closer:
“And I know where the free food is.”
Maggie suggests perhaps leaving that part out.
Ryan refuses.
“Then it’s not authentic.”
And from somewhere beyond the panel, the unseen keeper of the Little Station renders the final judgment:
“Hire him.”
Underneath the joke, Ryan may actually have stumbled onto a pretty good elevator pitch. Show up. Work hard. Be yourself.
