For three nights, a bell has been heard from an abandoned church in Clerkenwell.
There is only one difficulty.
The church has no bell.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson have followed the mystery from the rain-soaked church to the abandoned printing works of Bell & Hart, where they discovered a hidden room—and a mechanical timer connected by wires to something elsewhere.
Then the machine stopped.
CLICK.
Now Holmes is waiting.
At precisely 2:17, the silence of Clerkenwell is broken.
BONG…
BONG…
Watson can scarcely believe what he has heard.
“So the clergyman told the truth.”
Holmes’s reply changes the mystery completely.
“About hearing a bell. Not about where it came from.”
The bell is real.
But perhaps everyone has been asking the wrong question.
If the sound isn’t coming from the bell tower… where is it coming from?
The Adventure of the Silent Bell continues with Part Six of Chesterton Radio’s original illustrated series, The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: Cases from the Notebooks of Dr. John H. Watson.
Six panels. One mystery. Every clue matters.
To be continued…
