Behind the abandoned presses of Bell & Hart, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson have found a room that should not be there.
Inside, something is ticking.
Not a clock.
A machine.
Its mechanism is strangely precise. Its wires disappear through the wall. And beside it lies another footprint bearing the same unusual tread Holmes discovered at the church.
Watson reaches the obvious conclusion:
“Then this machine rings the bell.”
Holmes disagrees.
“No, Watson. It tells something else when to do so.”
Then the ticking stops.
A contact closes.
CLICK.
And suddenly this is no longer merely an investigation into something that happened last night.
Something is happening now.
What does the machine control?
Where do the wires lead?
And what does any of it have to do with a bell that was removed twelve years ago?
The Adventure of the Silent Bell continues with Part Five of Chesterton Radio’s original illustrated series, The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
Six panels. One mystery. Every clue matters.
To be continued…
