Daybreak: Tuesday Theatre, a Cold for Fibber & a Letter to the Little Station

Tuesday Theatre, a Cold for Fibber & a Letter to the Little Station

Midweek mystery, classic radio comedy, curious stories from around the world—and a listener goes looking for an imaginary radio station.

Good morning from The Little Station on Commercial Street.

Tuesday is theatre day on Daybreak, and this morning we have a particularly good bill. We’ll step into Tuesday Theatre, then cross the Atlantic for R. D. Wingfield’s Adequate Reasons from BBC Midweek Theatre—a mystery best approached without knowing too much beforehand.

Then it’s time for Fibber McGee and Molly, with Fibber Is Catching a Cold. As usual, Fibber is quite certain he understands the situation. As usual, that may be part of the problem.

We’ll also wander beyond the listening room for a few stories worth talking about over breakfast: history emerging from the Alpine ice, new discoveries from the ancient Maya world, and a spacecraft nearing the end of a remarkable journey.

And we have a story from much closer to home.

A listener recently called Benedictine College looking for the mailing address of The Little Station on Commercial Street. She wanted to send Chesterton Radio a contribution.

There was just one complication: The Little Station is an imaginary place.

The listener—and her contribution—were quite real.

It seems wonderfully appropriate for Chesterton Radio: someone went looking for an imaginary radio station because she wanted to send it a real check. We’ll tell the story and explain how listeners who prefer the old-fashioned way can now support the station by mail.

Daybreak is sponsored by Chesterton Radio patrons and supporting subscribers. If these programs, old radio dramas, readings, original stories and our 24-hour stream are worth having around, please consider helping us keep the light on.

Become a supporting subscriber at ChestertonRadio.com/subscribe.

And whenever you want to open the door and listen, The Open Door broadcasts Chesterton Radio 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Live.ChestertonRadio.com.

Thank you for listening—and especially to everyone whose subscriptions and contributions make The Little Station possible.

The light is on above the door.
